What is a National Regeneration Strategy for the Bangladeshi Community.
A disproportionate number of Bangladeshis living in the UK are experiencing high rates of poverty and deprivation and continue to fare worse on a number of key socioeconomic indicators compared to all others. The purpose of a National Regeneration Strategy for the Bangladeshi Community is to influence national and regional governmental and non-governmental polices and actions required to meet the socioeconomic development needs and aspirations of the Bangladeshi community in the UK.
A five-year strategy that will build the necessary infrastructures and programmes needed to bring about a positive change at the national level so that the Bangladeshi Community no longer regarded as a ‘disadvantaged’ ethnic group in the UK by 2030. Development of a National Strategy will involve:
- Engaging the community in 1-1 conversations and workshops.
- Convening current and future community leaders.
- Undertaking intergenerational dialogues.
- Connecting with local authorities.
- Connecting with policymakers.
